Lucien Arkas was born in Izmir in 1945 and graduated from Saint Joseph’s French High School, Istanbul.
Lucien Arkas entered the business world in 1964 at the
Lucien Arkas Shipping Agency. As of 1979 he served as Director of the
Executive Board of Arkas Shipping & Transport SA and the Arkas Group
of Companies. With the establishment of Arkas Holding in 2000, he
continued to this day as Chairman of Arkas Holding.
In addition to Turkish, Lucien Arkas is fluent in French, English, Italian and Greek.
He presides over the Transportation Working Group of the
Turkish Industrialists’ and Businessmen’s Association (TÜSIAD), holds
the office of Treasurer of the Maritime Transporters’ Association-Izmir,
is a member of the Chamber of Shipping, the Turkish Marine Environment
Protection Association (TURMEPA), the Aegean Industrialists’ and
Businessmen’s Association (ESİAD) and the Alsancak Rotary Club.
Lucien Arkas serves as the French Government’s Foreign
Trade Commercial Counsellor and has also been awarded as Knight of the
French National Order of Merit, Knight of the French Legion of Honour,
Knight of the Italian Republic’s Order of Merit and the Republic of
Austria’s Großes Silbernes Order of Merit.
Lucien Arkas has three children.
