"The Israel - Hamas War and the New Probable Balance in the Middle East"

On October 13, 2023, Ambassador (R) Ömer Onhon, Ankara Policy Center (APM) Executive Board Member; Prof. Özlem Tür, Professor of International Relations at Middle East Technical University; and Dr. Ezgi Uzun Teker, Yeditepe University Faculty Member, addressed GRF and GRF Community members at an online panel meeting. Moderated by Ambassador (R) Selim Yenel, President of Global Relations Forum, the panelists examined the background of Hamas’ October 7 attack on Israel, and how it will shape the balance of power in the greater Middle East region. Regarding Israel’s destructive counteroffensive against Hamas, the panelists discussed how it might impact the nascent normalization process in the Middle East, as well as how influential regional actors like Iran, Russia, China and Egypt have responded to the attacks. Following their speeches, the panelists answered the participants’ questions.
