Tomris Türmen is a full professor of paediatrics. She is currently the
head of Department of Pediatrics/ Newborn Medicine at the University of
Ankara and the President of International Children’s Center in Ankara.
Prof. Türmen previously served at the World Health Organization (WHO) in
Geneva between 1991-2006, as the Executive Director of Family and
Community Health, the Senior Policy Adviser to the Director-General, and
as representative of the Director General. Prior to her tenure at the
WHO, she was the Director General of Maternal and Child Health and
Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Health in Ankara. Prof
Türmen has been awarded "Fellow ad eundem" by the Royal College of
Obstetricians. Prof Türmen received her B.A. at the American College for
Girls in Istanbul and her M.D from the University of Ankara Medical
School. She completed her training in Paediatrics at the New York
University and her sub-specialty neonatology at the McGill University.
