Global Relations Forum (GRF)
İlter Türkmen Diplomacy Seminars
February 11 - 14, 2024
Aiming to bring together students who are in the final year of their undergraduate studies or currently pursuing a master’s degree with both academic scholars and experienced practitioners to serve as a forum for debating and scrutinizing global issues in the field of diplomacy, the GRF İlter Türkmen Diplomacy Seminars took place between February 11 - 14, at the GRF offices.
Throughout its four day schedule, the program included seminars from academics and retired ambassadors, as well as hosting a simulation event where participants can observe a close approximation of the decision-making mechanisms in the field of international relations.
During the negotiation simulation organized in collaboration with the Brussels-based think tank the IPLI Foundation, students led negotiations on the EU - Turkey Customs Union modernization process, and after 1.5 days of work presented their proposal document.
Having started in 2022 under the name GRF Diplomacy Seminars, the program was renamed in honor of our late founding member, experienced diplomat and politician İlter Turkmen, and will bear his name going forward.
