The third meeting of the 2024 term of the GRF Young Fellows Program, which is designed to bring together students pursuing their undergraduate studies at leading universities in Turkey and around the world on a platform where they can freely, rationally and constructively discuss and question global issues based on international relations, was held at the GRF office on April 20, 2024.

Focusing on artificial intelligence (AI), augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) technologies, this session of the program, moderated by Yıldız Technical University Lecturer Assoc. Based on the data obtained from academic research in this field, students had extensive discussions on what kind of educational models should be adopted to ensure the effective and efficient use of these technologies, as well as the short and medium-term effects of using these technologies on child and adult education. In addition, the participants engaged with the social and societal dimensions of this transformation, and discussed the role of the state and the private sector in its governance.

Özgür Soner, Founder and General Manager of BoomByte Games and Lokum Games, member of GRF and a graduate of the GRF Young Professionals Program, contributed as a guest speaker and shared the recent effects of AI, VR and AR technologies on the game industry. In his presentation, Soner touched on many topics ranging from game production/design processes to the changing conditions in the field of employment, and held an interactive discussion on the industry’s transformation and various professions in the near future, based on examples presented to the market using old and new technologies.
