First Meeting
June 29, 2024
The first meeting of the 2024-2025 term of the GRF Young Professionals Program, which
aims to provide a platform for young professionals who are equipped with the resolve,
background, and experience to contribute to the future of Turkey and the world, was held on
June 29, 2024.
The meeting opened with a speech by Ambassador (R) Selim Yenel, President of GRF, in
which he assessed the current global political landscape and the future of Turkey-EU
relations. Following his speech, Ambassador (R) Yenel answered the participants’ questions.
The meeting, themed "Technology, Global Order and Democracy", continued with a
presentation in which presenters outlined the evolution of artificial intelligence technology
and analyzed the structural shifts that this technology may trigger in various fields over the
medium and long term. The discussions revolved around the current and possible
approaches to the governance and regulation of AI technology, the socioeconomic risks and
opportunities it presents, as well as its potential impacts on democracy, global balance of
power, and industries.
