UN Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for Syria, Mr. Staffan de Mistura addressed GRF members and a group of GRF Community Members at a dinner on November 17, 2016. Upon talking about his motivations for agreeing to undertake such an immensely arduous task, Mr. De Mistura painted a panoramic picture of the Syrian conflict. Elaborating on the issues that exacerbate the situation in Syria, he stressed the need for a politically inclusive solution. Mr. De Mistura concluded his speech on a positive note, expressing that he remains hopeful of the potential opportunities that can be seized for the resolution of the conflict. Following his speech, Mr. De Mistura received a number of questions from the participants.
