Prof. Jeffrey D. Sachs, Director of Columbia University Earth Institute convened with GRF Members and a group of Young Scholars at a Luncheon on June 27th. During his speech, Prof. Sachs gave a detailed overview on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the prospects for a long-term positive trajectory, highlighting that SDGs require all countries to take social, economic and environmental concerns evenly into consideration. Prof. Sachs also stated that the SDGs need the identification of new conceptual pathways to social inclusion and environmental sustainability as well as regional leadership to tackle ecological and demographic challenges confronting our societies today. Following his speech where he encouraged Turkey to take a leadership role in bringing global issues to the fore, Prof. Sachs received a wide range of questions from the participants.
