On November 22, 2023, Prof. Andrea Renda, Head of Research at CEPS, addressed GRF and GRF Community members at an online meeting. In his talk entitled "Global AI Governance: Current Landscape and Potential Implications of Distinct Regulatory Strategies by Primary Actors", Prof. Renda assessed the regulatory dimensions and potential challenges of emerging artificial intelligence (AI) technologies on global governance. Contrasting the European Union, the US and China’s approaches to AI regulation, Prof. Renda warned against alarmist and overly long-termist approaches, and elaborated on the potential benefits of goal-oriented AI technologies on developing and implementing policy. Following his speech, Prof. Renda answered the participants’ questions.
