On June 26, 2024, Rein Paulsen, Director of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) Office of Emergencies and Resilience, addressed GRF and GRF Communities members at an online meeting. Giving a presentation on the current global acute hunger trends and the challenges in combatting as well as solving them, Mr. Paulsen shared with the participants the findings and judgements of the 2024 UN Global Report on Food Crises. Noting that since last year acute food insecurity has risen globally due to various factors such as conflict, worsening climate conditions and economic backsliding, Mr. Paulsen stressed the importance of giving emergency aid to the most food insecure areas of the world, such as Afghanistan and Sudan. Following his speech, Mr. Paulsen answered the participants’ questions.
