Roundtable Meeting with
Nacho Sánchez Amor,
Member of the European Parliament
and Turkey Rapporteur

On December 5, 2023, Nacho Sánchez Amor, Member of the European Parliament and Turkey Rapporteur, addressed GRF & GRF Community members, as well as members of the press, at a roundtable meeting organized at Beyoğlu Barceló Hotel Istanbul, in collaboration with the Spanish Embassy. In his speech examining whether there is a future for European Union – Turkey relations, Mr. Sánchez Amor spoke at length about the current state of the relationship, and listed some of the lingering challenges to be overcome. Discussing the points made in High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell’s recent report on Turkey relations, Mr. Sánchez Amor underlined that although there is still disagreement over a number of issues, the report signals that there is still goodwill amongst the EU to improve ties with Turkey. Following his speech, Mr. Sánchez Amor answered the participants’ questions.
