India Global Forum 2014
India Global Forum 2014 (IGF 2014) was convened by the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) in partnership with the Observer Research Foundation (ORF), India, in New Delhi on 9-10 November 2014. The forum offered an opportunity for delegates to hear presentations on the policy outlook of India’s new government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and how the world views the new India.
Indian speakers at the Forum included India’s ministers for finance, defence, commerce, industry; Prime Minister Modi’s G-20 Sherpa; and leaders of Indian business and other policymakers and analysts. In addition, various international speakers, senior ministers, business leaders and policy makers from several G-20 countries addressed the participants of the IGF 2014.
The Forum was organized in four plenary sessions focusing respectively on “India and the High Growth Economies: Opportunities and Challenges”, “The New Global Economic Order: Multilateral Institutions and the New Regionalism”, “The Geo-Economics of Commodities”, and “The Soft Power of Indian Enterprise”.
GRF Vice-Chairman and President Memduh Karakullukçu attended the Forum and delivered a speech in the third plenary session entitled “The Geo-Economics of Commodities”.
