Launching Meeting of “Turkish Energy Strategy in the 21st Century: Weathering Uncertainties and Discontinuities” Report
During the second half of November, GRF Energy and Climate Change Task Force report titled “Turkish Energy Strategy in the 21st Century: Weathering Uncertainties and Discontinuities” was presented at various institutions in the US. The venues included The Belfer Center of Harvard University, The American Academy of Arts and Sciences, The Center on Global Energy Policy of Columbia University, The Carnegie Endowment for International Peace as well as Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) of Johns Hopkins University. GRF Vice-Chairman and President Mr. Karakullukçu, who also lead the report’s drafting effort, talked about how structural shifts in global oil and gas markets would impact energy security, prices, and trade and investment structures, focusing in particular on Turkey’s role as a "transit" country. He also discussed Turkey’s approach to new energy technologies and how policies can help promote cross-border collaboration and investment. Last but not least, Mr. Karakullukçu addressed Turkey’s planned investments in nuclear energy and how it relates to its role in advancing the global agenda of nuclear safety and non-proliferation. Following his presentations, Mr. Karakullukçu received questions from the audiences relating to a wide range of issues covered in the report.
