On April 21, 2022, Mr. Bahadir Kaleağası, Institut du Bosphore President, Ambassador (R) Selim Yenel, President of Global Relations Forum, Bernard Guetta, Member of the European Parliament, Thierry de Montbrial, Founder and Executive Chairman of IFRI & Prof. Füsun Türkmen, Chair of the Department of International Relations at Galatasaray University, addressed GRF and GRF Community members at a panel meeting moderated by Barçın Yinanç, independent journalist. Under the shadow of the crisis in Ukraine, the panelists discussed ways to improve European-Turkish relations and examined what it would take to create an updated Customs Union arrangement. During the meeting, the panelists touched on France’s increasingly active role in shaping EU policy in the aftermath of Merkel’s Germany as well as the potential effects of the upcoming French elections, and stressed Turkey’s importance within the joint European security framework. Following their speeches, the panelists answered the participants’ questions under moderation by Ms. Yinanç.
