Luncheon with Sir Mark Moody-Stuart,

On January 10, 2018, Sir Mark Moody-Stuart, board member of Saudi Aramco, chairman (F) of Royal Dutch Shell and the Anglo American PLC, addressed GRF and GRF Community members at a luncheon where he delivered a speech entitled “The Transformation in the Global Energy System: Implications for the Global Economy and the Corporate Terrain.” In his speech Sir Mark Moody-Stuart addressed the growing trend of renewable energies as well as disruptive developments such as the shale gas. He then elaborated on the policies of the big oil companies regarding the seemingly inevitable shift towards renewables. Finally Sir Mark Moody-Stuart noted that the fall in oil prices caused the cancelling of major oil projects and that the supply & demand imbalance might result in a return to the boom and bust cycles in oil prices. Following his speech, Sir Mark Moody-Stuart answered the participants’ questions.
