On January 5, 2021, Prof. Murat Akova, Professor of Infectious Diseases and Clinical Microbiology at Hacettepe University School of Medicine, addressed GRF and GRF Community members at an online meeting. In his role as acting coordinator of the Chinese and German COVID-19 vaccines’ voluntary applications in Turkey, Prof. Akova spoke about the latest developments in the fight against COVID-19 and detailed the specifics of the various vaccine options. Stating that the development process for the COVID-19 vaccines have been relatively short, Prof. Akova assured that certain variations in dosage and enzymes are to be expected. Prof. Akova cautioned that pandemic protection measures must remain strict regardless of the latest developments, but nevertheless stressed the importance of getting vaccinated. Following his speech, Prof. Akova answered the participants’ questions.
