On March 10th, Prof. Gökhan Çetinsaya, Former President of the Council on Higher Education (YÖK), addressed GRF members within the framework of the Roundtable Series on “Higher Education.” Prof. Çetinsaya started his presentation with a summary of his report entitled “Growth, Quality, Internationalization: A Road Map for Turkish Higher Education.” He then stated that internationalization, the improvement of the academic proficiency and quality-based growth in lieu of mere numerical growth ought to be the new priorities of the Turkish higher education system. Prof. Çetinsaya underscored that in order to ameliorate the quality of the Turkish higher education system, the process of internationalization should take the global norms into consideration. Following his presentation, Prof. Çetinsaya answered the participants’ questions.
