On December 10, 2020, Doğan Taşkent, Atabay Pharmaceuticals and Fine Chemicals Inc. Lead on R&D and Innovation, addressed GRF and GRF Community members at an online meeting. In his speech examining the state of Turkey’s pharmaceutical industry and the current progress of the COVID-19 vaccine, Mr. Taşkent discussed Turkey’s relative sectoral strength in manufacturing drug raw materials. Mr. Giving a brief history of R&D initiatives in Turkey’s pharmaceutical industry and emphasizing that Turkey needs to keep up with other countries on R&D, Mr. Taşkent also stressed the importance of redesigning and upscaling the pharmaceutical industry within the framework of what’s required, in order to decrease Turkey’s dependence on other countries. Following his speech, Mr. Taşkent answered the participants’ questions.
