On December 4, 2018, Prof. Sergei Guriev, Chief Economist at the European Bank of Reconstruction and Development, addressed GRF and GRF Community members at a roundtable meeting. In his speech assessing the effects of globalization and technology on the current employment crisis, Prof. Guriev stated that the labor skill gap created by factors like automation and changing demographics is increasingly being filled with populism. With the trend towards automation, Prof. Guriev analyzed the challenges facing Turkey and the policies it could adopt to overcome these challenges. Following his speech, Prof. Guriev answered the participants’ questions.
