On November 8, 2022, Dr. Anne-Marie Slaughter, Former Director of Policy Planning at the U.S. State Department and CEO of New America, addressed GRF and GRF Community members at an online meeting. In her speech entitled "The Challenges of the Changing International Landscape", Dr. Slaughter examined problems within the global system from a prism of interaction between country capability, the actions of international institutions and state/non-state actors, as well as outlining the U.S.’ position in the new transatlantic paradigm. Dr. Slaughter stated that the power erosion experienced by international institutions has indirectly led to non-state actors gaining greater influence, and drew attention to the rising power of multinational conglomerates, civil society movements and interests groups over the global system, particularly within energy and tech industries. Following her speech, Dr. Slaughter answered the participants’ questions.
