On December 22, 2016, Former President of the Council on Higher Education (YÖK) Prof. Kemal Gürüz addressed GRF members within the framework of the Higher Education Roundtable Meetings Series. In his speech, Prof. Gürüz presented a historical overview of the higher education systems in the world and provided advice on the ideal scope and methods of a potential higher education reform in Turkey. Underlining the necessity of revising higher education admissions, he also emphasized the need for increased specialization in Turkish universities. Prof. Gürüz concluded his presentation by underscoring the necessity of transforming institutions so as to improve the quality of their technological infrastructure, changing the criteria for evaluating success, and advancing interdisciplinary interactions. Following his speech, Prof. Gürüz received a wide range of questions and comments from the participants.
