On March 11, 2019, Prof. Paul Collier, Director of the Research Development Department of the World Bank (F) and Professor of Economics and Public Policy at the Blavatnik School of Government addressed GRF and GRF Community members at a roundtable meeting. In his speech about re-conceptualizing capitalism in the face of social and political instability, Prof. Collier recounted capitalism’s periods of derailment throughout modern history. Pointing out that traditional economic models about human behavior are flawed in dealing with the challenges of today, Prof. Collier underlined the need to build a shared national identity through a new, inclusive philosophy. Following his speech, Prof. Collier answered the participants’ questions.
