On February 15, 2019, Prof. Feride Acar, Professor Emeritus of Political Science and Public Administration at METU and President of the Group of Experts on Action Against Violence Against Women and Domestic Violence (GREVIO), addressed GRF and GRF Community members at a roundtable meeting. In her speech detailing ‘gender inequality’ and ‘violence against women’, Prof. Acar explained the role and scope of supranational regulatory frameworks like CEDAW and the Istanbul Agreement in addressing these issues. Prof. Acar touched on Turkey’s current state concerning women’s rights and emphasized that more awareness needs to be raised on the different kinds of violence against women. Following her speech, Prof. Acar answered the participants’ questions.
