On May 4, 2020, Mr. Gerald Knaus, Founding President of the European Stability Initiative (ESI), addressed GRF and GRF Community members at an online meeting. In his speech entitled “COVID-19 and the EU’s Migration Policies”, Mr. Knaus shared with the participants his thoughts on the current state of the migration deal between Turkey and the EU. Warning that the recent rise in anti-immigration sentiment can turn the EU into a more closed off state with the COVID-19 crisis, Mr. Knaus stressed the need to rebuild trust between Turkey and the EU with regards to the migration deal. Following his speech, Mr. Knaus answered the participants’ questions.
