On 17 January 2023, Ballard Partners Istanbul Office Managing Partner and CEO of Lamor Turkey Ambassador (R) Matthew Bryza addressed GRF and GRF Community members at a roundtable meeting organized at GRF offices.

In his speech entitled “The Impact of the Russia-Ukraine War on Global Energy Markets”, Ambassador (R) Bryza examined the geopolitical reflections of the energy cooperation between Turkey and the US in the Central Asian region, and current developments in bilateral ties. In this vein, Ambassador (R) Bryza underlined that many European countries are pertinent to invest in alternative pipeline routes to Russian gas after the invasion of Ukraine and Western sanctions that target the Russian energy industry. Ambassador (R) Bryza also reminded that the Middle Corridor route needs additional investments and contracts for capacity increase, in accordance which the heads of states of Turkey, Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan held trilateral meetings in December 2022 to discuss the possible project of transporting Turkmenistan gas to Europe via Turkey.

Following his speech, Ambassador (R) Bryza answered the participants’ questions.
