Roundtable Meeting with Jeffry L. Flake,

On April 4, 2023, Jeffry L. Flake, the U.S. Ambassador to Turkey, addressed GRF members at a roundtable meeting in Divan Hotel, Elmadağ.

In his speech, Ambassador Flake spoke on the present opportunities for closer ties between the U.S. and Turkey in the aftermath of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, and examined the various aspects of the bilateral relationship. Ambassador Flake underlined the importance of Turkey’s continued military and political aid to Ukraine, whilst also remarking that increased cooperation from Turkey with regards to the sanctions regime against Russia would be something its NATO partners wish to see. Stating that Turkey remains a crucial regional ally of the U.S., Ambassador Flake reiterated that its security concerns are being treated seriously.

Following his speech, Ambassador Flake answered the participants’ questions.
