On May 22th, Prof. İsmail Tosun, Former Vice President of the Council on Higher Education (YÖK) and Professor of Chemical Engineering at the METU, addressed GRF members within the framework of the Roundtable Series on “Higher Education.” Starting his presentation with quantitative data on higher education, Prof. Tosun gave an overview on important debates related to “democratization”, “autonomy” and “academic freedom” concepts in the field of higher education as well as core principles of creating a modern university. Following his speech, which he also shared his recommendations on what type of higher education system should be adopted in the future, Prof. Tosun received a wide range of questions from the participants.
