On October 27, 2020, Prof. Hakan Kara, Former Chief Economist of the Turkish Central Bank, addressed GRF and GRF Community members at an online meeting. In his speech entitled “The Effects of COVID-19 on the Turkish Economy and the Way Out”, Prof. Kara examined the short and long-term consequences of Turkey’s recent currency depreciation. Pointing out that Turkey was one of the countries who spent their economic reserves the most during the pandemic period, Prof. Kara stressed the importance of creating a new monetary policy. Following his speech, Prof. Kara answered the participants’ questions.
