On January 6, 2022, Prof. Hakan Kara, Former Chief Economist of the Central Bank of Turkey, Prof. Refet Gürkaynak, Professor of Economics at Bilkent University and Prof. Fatih Özatay, Professor of Economics at TOBB University of Economics and Technology, addressed GRF and GRF Community members at an online panel meeting moderated by Tayfun Bayazıt, TÜSİAD High Advisory Board Member and Country Officer of the Marsh McLennan Group.
Assessing the trajectory of Turkey’s economy over last year, the panelists discussed its potential reflections onTurkey’s monetary policy in 2022. Stating that the policies behind the Central Bank of Turkey’s exchange rate adjustments risk destabilizing Turkey’s economic situation further in the upcoming year, the panelists discussed how best to shape an economic policy package in order for Turkey to best respond to existing global risks. Following their speeches, the panelists answered the participants’ questions under moderation by Mr. Bayazıt.
