On June 22, 2018, Dr. Andrew Hamilton, President of New York University (NYU) addressed GRF members at a dinner. Giving a speech on the opportunities and challenges of global higher education, Dr. Hamilton emphasized that universities acted as sources of knowledge, perspective and stability throughout history. Stating the need for higher education institutions to expand and update their missions in the 21st century, Dr. Hamilton elaborated on a number new approaches concerning the movement of ideas, students and universities. Dr. Hamilton concluded his speech by talking about NYU’s “global network university” initiative, and the importance of a global style of education. Following his speech, Dr. Hamilton answered the participants’ questions.
